Angelina Pediatrics medical providers and staff were on hand at the 8th Annual Back to School Bonanza hosted by the Junior League of Lufkin at Pitser Garrison Convention Center to sign students up for well checkup appointments, hand out pencils and hold drawings for Nike backpacks. “Our goal is to help parents get their child ready for school,” said Jaimee Varner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, “and making an appointment for an annual physical and updating their immunizations is a healthy way to start the school year.” Hundreds of students from Angelina County attended the event in a community wide effort of ensuring that every child has the school supplies they need to begin learning on day one. “We want our kids to be excited about learning and staying healthy throughout the school year makes for a better learning environment,” said Robyn DeVore, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Some healthy back to school tips include establishing a bedtime routine, stocking up on healthy snack options, promoting good hygiene habits, and seeing your child’s medical provider for annual checkups, immunizations and seasonal flu vaccine.
